Williamsfield Man killed in cycle accident on U.S. 150

A Williamsfield man was killed in a weekend motorcycle accident on U.S. 150 near Knox Highway 12.



Kevin P. Cain, 54, Williamsfield, was riding his motorcycle eastbound at about 9:34 p.m. Saturday when he was struck head-on by a truck. The truck, driven by a 16-year-old male, was traveling westbound and attempting to pass a westbound car.

The driver and two 15-year-old male passengers of the truck were taken to an area hospital, where they were treated and released. Cain was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is under investigation. The Knox County Sheriff's Department, several fire departments, the Knox County Coroner and the Illinois State Police assisted with the incident.

WILLIAMSFIELD - Kevin P. Cain, 54, of Williamsfield, died at 10:30 PM, Saturday, June 28 2008 from injuries received in a motorcycle/auto accident that occurred near Oak Run.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, July 3 at Williamsfield Methodist Church. Rev. Randy Douglass will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Rux Funeral Home in Williamsfield. Burial will be in Williamsfield Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to ABATE - Central Illinois Chapter or Galva Lions Club.

Kevin was born June 12, 1954 in Galesburg, IL, son to Percy H. and Jeane D. (Speer) Cain. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by one aunt, Joanne Wilson of Williamsfield and five cousins, Dick and Don Meehan, Barb Elliott, Chip Murdock and Vicki Quick.

Kevin graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1972 and from Western Illinois University in 1976. He farmed most of his life and later worked at Altorfer in Bartonville. He enjoyed his Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He had been a charter member of Illinois Motorcyclist Rights Assn., Inc., ABATE of Illinois, Galva Lions Club, the National Rifle Association and the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was also the Safety Director for HOG (Harley Owners Group) and the activities coordinator for ABATE.
